Production Engineer
The Production Engineers role is to ensure the company’s manufacturing processes are safe for employees to use, capable of meeting or exceeding the expected standard labour time and are designed to produce right first- time production. Working in collaboration with the Production Management team the Production Engineer should ensure manufacturing processes are well defined and adequately resourced with appropriate work instructions, tooling, jigs and other assembly aids. The engineers tasks will be made up of the following disciplines:- Part routing, part costing (labour), work instructions, production tooling and jigs, machine programming & maintenance, problem solving, process improvement, collaborating with development on new product development and introduction as well as generating build reports to identify further opportunities for improvement.
Responsibilities:
• To support the Production department enabling the company’s products to be manufactured on time, right first time and at the lowest practical cost in line with customer demand.
• To ensure plant and resources are adequately maintained (TPM) to increase their longevity and to support the Production plan.
• To help maintain a safe and productive environment for all departmental staff.
• Adoption of lean philosophies throughout the production engineering department where continuous improvement is at the heart of what we do.
• To innovate and adopt a continuous improvement approach to manufacturing processes.
• To provide technical support, advice and assistance to the site Facilities Manager.
• To coach and mentor technical apprentices.
Skills / experience:
• At least 5 years production engineering experience in a low to medium volume, high mix, fast paced production environment.
• Will have worked in companies where a lean philosophy has been adopted
• Ideally will have worked in electronics and/or electro-mechanical assembly environment.
• Preferably degree/HNC/HND educated in an engineering or science related discipline.
• Experienced is using practical problem solving techniques such as 8D, PFMEA etc.
• Experience of using and operating within an enterprise resource planning (ERP) model.
• Computer literate, especially excel.
• Previous CNC experience preferred.
• Previous programming experience preferred but not essential
• Previous CAD experience preferred.
